Malic Acid is Used to Help Boost Sports Performance

Malic acid is a fruit acid, similar to the citric acid found in oranges and lemons; however, Malic acid is found predominately in apples and pears.
 
Regular consumers of Malic acid believe that it; 
1) promotes energy production, 
2) increases exercise endurance and, 
3)helps fight against muscle fatigue. 
In addition to these benefits, some athletes also take Malic acid combined with creatine supplements to improve the body’s absorption of creatine.
 
In a 2015 study, published in the journal Acta Physiologica Hungarica, researchers investigated the effectiveness of a creatine and malic acid combination supplement in sprinters and long-distance runners. After six weeks, there was a significant increase in the physical performance in sprinters, measured by peak power, total work, body composition, and elevated growth hormone levels. In long-distance runners, there was a significant increase in distance covered.
