TURMERIC RECOVERY
This advanced Turmeric Recovery formula targets tired, stiff joints and the muscle soreness associated with high intensity and prolonged exercise stress.
It is intended to assist in reducing the recovery time between training sessions.
The extract in Turmeric Recovery has been shown to be 46 times more bioavailable than standard Turmeric extracts, meaning your body will absorb an optimal amount with just one capsule per day.
Prevent Muscle Damage
Downhill running is associated with fiber damage, inflammation, delayed-onset muscle soreness, and various functional deficits.
Downhill running involves both concentric and eccentric muscle contractions, which can induce muscle damage and muscle-specific functional deficits, albeit to different degrees. Eccentric contractions, defined as a muscle that is lengthening while tension is still developing, is known to produce the most damage and DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness)
Curcumin can offset the muscle damaging effects of downhill running on inflammation and whole-body exercise performance.

Help Reduce DOMS
In a study funded by the Australian Institute of Sport, it was suggested that curcumin supplementation caused moderate to large-sized reductions in DOMS-related leg–muscle pain symptoms at several sites, which was associated with lower blood CK (Creatine Kinase; a blood serum marker of muscle damage) and higher blood IL6 (Interleukin 6; a blood serum marker of muscle inflammation). The presence of the CK in the blood serum is generally
considered an indirect marker of muscle injury.
There was also some evidence for improved muscle performance (measured by increased first jump height) at 24–48 h after exercise.
“… curcumin likely reduces pain associated with DOMS with some evidence for enhanced recovery of muscle performance.”

Reduces Exercise-Induced Oxidative Stress
A certain level of oxidative stress from “reactive oxygen species” (ROS) plays an important role in maintaining healthy immune function and cellular signals. However, excessive levels of ROS can damage DNA, proteins and lipids.
With its high oxygen demand, exercise can dramatically increase ROS 200-fold above resting levels, and high-intensity endurance exercise can induce significant levels of oxidative stress and damage.
There is solid evidence that excessive oxidative stress leads to fatigue, or muscle damage, which can affect exercise performance.
“… curcumin supplementation can not only attenuate [reduce] exercise-induced oxidative stress but also increase antioxidant capacity responses to exercise in humans.

About Turmeric Recovery
Despite the demonstrated effects of curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, the potential health benefits of curcumin are limited by its poor solubility, low absorption from the gut, rapid metabolism and elimination from the body. The curcumin extract used in PowerAMP® Turmeric Recovery is specifically developed to be better absorbed and more highly available. which means a more effective product.
The Figure above shows the improved bioavailability of curcumin, for over 12 hours. (The black triangle is the curcumin) – The same ingredient used in PowerAMP® Turmeric Recovery. Jäger et al. Nutrition Journal 2014, 13:11
