The World Anti-Doping Agency has just announced this week, a significant rise in global testing figures as the activities of Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) worldwide return to normal following pandemic lockdowns across the globe.

The latest figures, released this week, show that the number of samples collected for May 2021 is the highest since the pandemic started back in March 2020.

With just over a month to go before the start of the Olympic Games, Anti-Doping Organizations have shown significant effort and determination to deliver a quality testing program under challenging and restrictive circumstances, according to WADA Director General  Olivier Niggli.

The work that WADA is doing today will also likely have a big impact on catching drug cheats for years to come. Niggli went on to say, “The further analysis of samples collected during Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games by the IOC has so far produced more than 130 Anti-Doping Rule Violations, which clearly highlights the effectiveness of such a program to provide more effective detection. I am confident that this program will continue to have further impact in the years to come.”
